Trim Levels

The 2018 GranTurismo is offered in Sport and MC trim levels, and coupe and convertible body styles. The car may seem identical to its predecessor from afar, but a closer look reveals significant differences. A large, hexagonal grille with a shark-nose profile, a central splitter, and side vents give the front end a menacing look. These features also function to improve aerodynamics and provide better cooling for the mechanical components. On the sides, the side skirts are revised and new air vents are added to the front fenders. The rear looks more aggressive with a larger rear lip spoiler.

Engine

Both the Sport and MC are equipped with a lightweight 4.7-liter V8 engine that delivers 454 hp. Featuring a cross-plane crankshaft and wet sump, this engine is mated to a ZF six-speed automatic transmission. Due to the crankshaft, it produces a distinct sound that's muffled in Normal mode and turns into an inimitable growl in Sport mode. The Sport trim can make zero to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, while the MC needs only 4.4 seconds.

Performance

The Sport's electronically-adjustable dampers deliver a smooth and calm ride, even if you set them to their firmest mode. The single-mode dampers of the supposedly more aggressive MC are also compliant enough for daily driving. The GranTourismo performs well on hilly roads, handling the steepest slopes and sharpest turns with great composure. Its strong brakes, firm grip, creamy steering response, and excellent agility combine to provide a fun and engaging ride. This car may not have the most impressive specs in its class, but it stands out with its emotionally-appealing driving experience.

Interior

The 2018 GranTurismo's cabin features a unique blend of motorsports innovation, soothing comfort, fine-tuned luxury, and progressive technology. It's roomy and flexible, with class-leading headroom and legroom, power-sliding front seats, and individually-profiled rear seats. The Sport trim comes with a newly-designed dashboard, classy Poltrona Frau leather, chrome detailing, and steering-mounted gearshift paddles with Alcantara trim. The MC has comfortable and supportive front sport seats with optional carbon-fiber backs. Both models are fitted with a Harman Kardon audio system and a smartphone-mirroring touch-screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Safety Features

When it comes to safety, one of the highlights of the 2018 Maserati GranTurismo is the Maserati Safety Program. This revolutionary technology uses a variety of sensors to monitor driving status and activates a host of performance and safety systems to achieve optimal handling and grip. In addition, the car has a variety of airbags, traction control, stability control, daytime running lights, auto-leveling headlights, and brake assist.
